Our journey with purebred dogs began when Barbara acquired her first Borzoi while still in high school. Now, thirty + years later, we at Warwind Farm, Reg’d. are proud of our generations of quality champion Borzoi who, along with our Whippets, bring us, our three grown children, and their families, great joy and friendship!
We began some thirteen years ago experimenting with sources of Omega 3’s, when it became evident from various professional studies that we needed to increase the level of Omega 3 in our dogs’ diets for optimum health, because the required levels were not being met in commercial dog food. All the products that Doc had knowledge of in the veterinary field were prohibitively expensive to use as a daily supplement. Doc tried fish oil by the gallon that he acquired from a mink food plant. We found that a bit messy and smelly. Doc then purchased natural flax and ground it in a blender, using that as a supplement for quite some time.
For several years we fed our different ‘recipes’ to our own dogs here at Warwind. Through trial and error, we finally settled on what we felt was the right combination of ingredients, observing significant positive results, both physically and visually in our dogs. We were able to verify this fact once our friends and fellow Borzoi breeders/owners, Kathryn and James Wright of Kajai, used the product and were able to see positive results in their dogs as well. After many years of being on the receiving end of comments from folks owning all different breeds of dogs, remarking not just on the quality of our dogs hair coats, but also on the vigor, vitality, and longevity of our veterans, we felt compelled to make DocsBlend products available to others. Ultimately we found ourselves in the position of being able to offer a pharmaceutical grade, quality product that provided both the long-chain fatty acids from ground flax, as well as the short chain fatty acids from refined fish oil.
